From: Shock Til You Drop
The British Film Institute is preparing a special re-release of Stanley Kubrick's The Shining in UK theaters this fall. There had been some previous rumblings this might occur, today the BFI confirmed the release.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, UK audiences will get the U.S. extended cut for the first time, which runs at 144 minutes in length. That's significantly longer than the European cut, which was apparently 113 minutes long.
UK cinemas will start rolling out a remastered trailer soon.
Originally, The Shining ran 146 minutes. Shortly after its release, Kubrick revisited the editing room and trimmed a two-minute epilogue.
No word yet if The Shining will get a re-release here in the U.S. Instead, we have more news to look forward to (that's sarcasm right there) on Warner Bros.' proposed prequel to the film.
