Glenn Danzig's performance at the Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas was cut short last night (Friday, November 4) after an hour because the festival promoters were required to enforce the city's curfew.
According to a post from the event organizers on the official Fun Fun Fun Fest Facebook page, Danzig was scheduled to take the stage at 8:15 p.m. but made the crowd wait after initially insisting that he wasn't going to play because he said it was too cold and he had a cough. The promoters allege that Glenn demanded vitamins, French onion soup and a Wendy's chicken sandwich and insisted on having stage heaters and an on-site doctor.
Danzig finally appeared onstage at 8:55, nearly 45 minutes past his scheduled stage call. At 10 p.m, when Auditorium Shores venue rules stated that music must be shut off, Danzig blamed the Fun Fun Fun Fest organizers, telling the crowd, "I guess they've [the organizers] never heard of a thing called a riot before."
By the time Danzig's performance was forced to come to an early end, he had only gotten through two MISFITS songs as part of his "Danzig Legacy" set — featuring material from the singer's former bands SAMHAIN and the MISFITS as well as selections from his solo work — disappointing many of the fans, who took to Facebook and Twitter to slam the musician for his allegedly unprofessional behavior.
...and yet somehow Jerry Only is the guy everyone rags on.
yeah, at least he has the balls to continue the misfits and release a new album under that name. even though its bad. at least he doesn't refuse to perform and he has black flag peeps playing with him
I kinda believe it. He did that to one of our clubs in the mid-90's and started a riot.
But he's Danzig, if he wants his Dave's Hot-N-Juicy you get him his Hot-N-Juicy. :)
Fun Fun Fun didn't sound so Fun Fun Fun. It had an awesome lineup though.
I could also could be a setup moment that only the Danzig crew knew about for the Legacy TV Special. They do that in reality tv, trust me I know.
I mean, it wouldn't be fun watching a show about a short tour that only goes good would it?!
That too :)
Apparently, Danzig isn't the only one with contraversy this weekend.
Blitzkid's facebook says this:
So this would make the second time Jerry Only has gotten Blitzkid kicked off a show with them.
I guess this weekend would fall into the category of "Never Meet Your Heroes" or they are just turning into grumpy old men :)
Oh, shit! So fill me in on the Blitzkid/Only feud!
yeah, me too!
A few years back (I think in 2005) Blitzkid had booked themselves on a show to open for the Misfits (Jerry Only's Misfits) and I guess Jerry Only found out and threatened to pull the show if the promoter didn't take them off the lineup. So, Blitzkid got kicked off the show since Jerry likes to keep his lawyers behind him at all times (that would be my guess).
Then, a month or two ago the same thing happened and I guess Jerry didn't find out until the day before or of that they were playing and did the same thing again.
Jerry knows people will only stay for Blitzkid and leave and not stay for the Misfits, so he pulls just about any Horror-Punk band or there of related to the genre to hide the fact he has no talent.
Basically, Blitzkid tries to extend an olive branch to bring everyone in this scene back together and it has worked with everyone but Jerry. But it might because Goolsby worked on Gorgeous Frankenstein with Danzig (who prodcued the album) and Doyle.
Jerry's name fits him perfect because JERRY is the ONLY person he thinks about.
