I know that most people these days are probably more interested in the "free download" compilations because they can be put together for free and anyone can download them. I think those are awesome, but I also still like being able to hand a physical CD to people that I meet in person. I'm in the process of working on ways to promote our next single and since I've had good luck in the past with compilation CDs, I thought I'd post a note up here just to see if anyone might want to get involved with something like that.
The idea is if you have a dozen or so bands chip in to have the songs mastered and the CDs manufactured (replicated). Then each band would get a stack of CDs to give to their fans, each band gets exposed to all of the other bands' fanbase. It would probably cost about $120 for each band. I know a lot of people aren't into the idea of doing something like this, but maybe some of you would be interested.
My band has a couple of conventions coming up in the next few months and I thought that would be a great place to give out the compilation CDs because unlike our regular shows, a lot of people at the conventions have never heard us before. With that in mind, I'd like to get everything together pretty soon. If anyone's interested, just reply here or send me a note.
Sounds pretty awesome! Been talkin to my bandmates about doin' something like that. Should be in a better position to discuss money on Saturday or Sunday, if you can wait. Oh yeah, the band is Tiger Helicide.
