not a conspiracy exactly, some folks have said that this is an authentic picture taken of the man shortly after his death, while others think it's just internet hokum

Its not Poe I don't really know for sure though but from what I can see it is not Poe

I am a member of three Poe Societies and have been involved with several events dealing with all things Poe. Not claiming to be an expert but I do know alot about Poe, and can tell you the photo is fake. there was no photoes taken of Poe at the time of his death. In fact there are only a couple of photoes of Poe ever taken. This is not one of them.
