Winners of the Fantasia Festival 2024 Jury Awards have been announced.

The 28th edition of Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival is only halfway through, but some of its most prestigious awards have already been disclosed.

During a ceremony held tonight at the Cinéma du Musée in the Canadian city, hosted by Mitch Davis, Fantasia’s artistic director and director of international programming, the jury award winners were revealed. Here is the full list of recipients:

Cheval Noir Competition

  • Best Film: The Count of Monte-Cristo (directed by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre De La Patellière)
  • Special Jury Mention (Best Film): Electrophilia (directed by Lucía Puenzo)
  • Best Director: Hwang Wook for Mash Ville
  • Best Screenplay: Lucía Puenzo and Lorena Ventimiglia for Electrophilia (directed by Lucía Puenzo)
  • Best Cinematography: Inti Briones for Rita (directed by Jayro Bustamante)
  • Best Editing: Penalty Loop (directed by Shinji Araki)
  • Sandro Forte Award for Best Motion Picture Score: Penalty Loop (directed by Shinji Araki)
  • Outstanding Performance Award: Mariana Di Girolamo for Electrophilia, and Anna Starchenko and Berik Aitzhanov for Steppenwolf
  • Jurors: Matt Johnson (President), Steve Dollar, Rob Jabbaz, Kristina Klebe, Ariane Louis-Seize

New Flesh Competition for Best First Feature

  • Best First Feature: Self Driver (directed by Michael Pierro)
